I'm thinking about getting a Furman HDS-6 system and was wondering what headphones Electrical are currently using with it (still HD25's?).I have a bunch of Beyer DT-100's which are 400ohm. Would the Furman system have enough power for these?

it was vic firth isolation headphones the last handful of times i've been there.

Would the Furman system have enough power for these?It would. I don't know how loud they will be, but they won't hurt anything. The higher the impedance the less work the Furman is pressed to do.

To me the Vic Firths sound more agressive, they have less low end and less definition than the HD25s. But they have a much greater sound isolation which seem to please the musicians during the sessions.

We have a couple of principal reasons for using the Vic Firth headphones. Probably the most important is that they don't break or become intermittent as often as the Sennehisers. Additionally, when they do break, they get fixed or replaced quickly.Practically, what is good about them is that they are light and they stay seated on your head when you're rocking. The isolation is also good, but if they were uncomfortable or fell off easily nobody would care about the isolation.

I managed to get hold of a used pair of Vic Firth's for really cheap but I need to open them up to replace the cable. Is there a knack to this or are they bonded together? I can't see any clips or screws and didn't want to rip the pads!Thanks, m

I wanted to bring this back up to see if anyone else has any issues with having the HDS-6 unit sitting in the rack in the control room....I've had to put mine in a closet down the hall because the humming from inside the unit is too loud to have in the control room. Now I have a whole mess of cables going to and from. Did you guys at Electrical do anything to keep that thing quiet enough to put in the rack?

That's strange that you're having noise issues. My HDS-6 is quiet.
