Yes, excellent book.
On reflection, dithering any time there is bit reduction makes the most sense, and I was just getting mixed up by (as opposed to in a dither over) some poorly written mastering articles I'd read back in college years. Although of course, multiple bit reductions should be avoided where possible.

2Well, the biggest problem if you're putting a mic next to a television, you're going to get a lot of the blackburst noise interference. I would reamp. Take the RCA out form the game into an DI and reamp through a screen-less speaker later.
