Howdy,I unabashedly love cargo shorts and I wear them all summer long. But we're out here in the hinterlands, and these dumbs hicks don't know shit. For about 10 years or so I've been b/t 185-200 pounds. Right now, and for the past 3 or 4 years, I've been at 191, right on the nose. I'd love to lose ten pounds, but I don't know if this is in the cards. Here's my daily routine, and it has helped me simply MAINTAIN: At least and hour of cardio a day. AT LEAST. Usually 40-45 minutes of HARD cardio (where I rely on the surely-inaccurate calorie counter, and try to get it up to 550-650 calories). This is stair-stepped or elliptical. Then I over-eat at lunch, every single day of my life. Almost never eat meat at lunch, and usually I eat 2-3 salads (edamame, cabbage, sometimes potato, often some form of pasta salad). I drink very little soda and a lot of coffee and tea. All day long, at work, I'm drinking either tea or coffee. My soda has been almost completely replaced (outside of the occasional Vernor's) by La Croix fizzy water. Not for everyone--pretty much like the poor-man's Perrier. I then do, usually, 30 more min. of cardio, either on the stairstepper or bike, JUST before supper. Then I swim with my kid at night. Then I overeat again, right up till bed. Peanuts, dried berries, that type of thing. NEVER b/c I'm actually hungry. Probably b/c of other addiction issues I've had. I have ice cream (rarely very much) nearly every night. NOW, I am really lucky to be able to go to the gym twice a day, and still find time to swim. That is a huge luxury in my life, and I recognize that right off. I've only become interested in losing my gut recently, or trying out this CORE training shit. Overall, mostly healthy, with cholesterol around 200 and good BP. I don't drink at all, and haven't for a long while. That's the killer, right there. I don't feel winded walking up the stairs, which was my goal all along. Start small. Keep shit really manageable. My first month at the gym was like prison. Now I hate it, but only slightly less. I listen to Rush and Van Halen at the gym. No one on Earth would say I look 'in shape' at all, ever, but I feel good.
