I also like being in the room with the band, big difference from glass partitions and talkback mics on both sides.

It has 18 inputs -- 8 though the unit's analog inputs (I run the API and Sytek pres into that); 8 through lightpipe (Digimax LT); 2 through coaxial (which I use the Behringer 2-channel A/D for, and have the PM1k connected to). Maybe it's a little goofy to run those Yamaha pres through Behringer conversion, but that's how it works out right now.Nice setup.I've been hem and hawing over buying the Fireface 400. It's time to let my MOTU 828MKII lie down a bit and rest, like forever.I love RME stuff. Those guys really know what they're doing on the software end; their drivers are rock solid and have always been. Their hardware seems pretty well-built too.busbus wrote:I wouldn't feel bad about the Behringer AD. I used to run coax out to a Tascam DAT, with a dat tape in it, engaging record, and rolling that way for 2 extra inputs.Hah! Nice, nice.

There are countless mods for them. I don't really like the capsules in them as they sound harsh, but I gutted mine. You'd possibly be better with a Studio Projects valve mic as the capsules are decent. There's a simple mod you can do to those too to smooth them out in the top-end.
