Then I have to pay netflix after that, right? So xbox live and netflix bill every month?I don't know how this compares, but:We have a PS3 and we stream NetFlix. We only pay for a monthly NetFlix subscription.(i.e. there is no separate Sony/PlayStation subscription necessary)If 'xbox live' wants you to pay them money while also paying NetFlix, then fuck that.
My mind, it's a terrible diskette.

We just got one a month ago and it's like crack, unfortunately. The Roku seems to be the way to go. I know people with both the Apple TV and the Roku, and the Roku is far and away the more popular with said friends. Cheap, too.

Xbox live I Think is about 30 for the year. That is fine, that'd be less than the asshole comcast cable, even if I had to buy a bigger hard drive to make it workYou might also consider looking into Apple TV. It's $99 - you can watch Netflix thru it. as well as a lot of other stuff. You also get a regular remote rather than trying to navigate stuff with the Xbox controllers. Requires an internet connection, but I think that's about it.

I haven't had cable since 1995 and I don't miss it a bit.Netflix streaming is pretty great, Daily Show and Colbert Report are up on there. Many people swear by Hulu.We have a giant HDTV attached to a media server I made. 2.0 TB drive attached to an old XP desktop that I made. I installed a very nice video card on it with an HDMI out and got it souped up for media... enter a nice wireless keyboard and mouse and there you go. Total cost was about $200 and that was mostly for the ridiculously huge hard drive.Utorrent is your friend! Demonoid is the best for torrents if you can get in, and Pirate Bay is ghetto but not generally bad.I'm actually upgrading the whole system pretty soon, I'd offer to ship it out to you 'Sup, but I think i'm going to use it as a dedicated practice space recording computer instead.
Yes it's true, I am made from atoms.

We are done with Comcast and are doing the basic TV with a Roku box for Netflix streaming, plus the one-DVD-at-a-time deal. The neighbors have "Boardwalk Empire" viewing parties; unless they move I'll never regret getting rid of cable.AT&T for the internet and phone.
Segment Two: Servo falls in love with Joel's new blender, but the courtship turns sour when Joel drinks from Servo's girl. Undeterred, Servo flirts with the coffeemaker, until he realizes he's a guy.

I have an antenna for free over the air TV, and use an EyeTV USB thing for the rare times I want to record something. Between OTA, Netflix (streaming and DVDs), and the Web (Hulu etc), there's more than enough to watch. The new Comcast merger is heinous:http://www.npr.org/2011/01/19/133046229 ... lot-biggerOn the same day that President Obama launched a drive to identify what he referred to as excessive regulation of business, the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice ” both of which are defined by his appointments ” effectively abandoned more than a century of antitrust principles and approved one of the biggest corporate mergers in American history.Instead of regulating the telecommunications industry, the FCC's vote to approve Comcast's proposed acquisition of a majority stake in NBC Universal ” creating a conglomerate that will be the largest cable provider, the largest Internet provider and one of the largest producers of content in the United States ” represents the ultimate surrender to the demands of corporate America.Once we allow companies to become this powerful, the FCC does not regulate them, says Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. They regulate the FCC, says the senator.Heard about this merger/acquisition today and my first thought was that this has to break anti-trust laws both written and in case law. Isn't this what Microsoft got busted for: forcing the software on the users of the hardware, both of which were created by Microsoft? There's also speculation that this deal had something to do with Keith Olbermann being let go. I haven't had cable for a while. Between Netflix and my son's Xbox for streaming, we're just fine.
