Studer A810: No hours on the clock? Edit: Battery Question!

Couldn't see it at Digikey or Mouser. I bought mine from Farnell in the UK, they are linked with Newark in the US, this is the one you need:http://www.newark.com/varta/55615603940 ... 5615603940There's a handling charge for shipping from the UK but at least with the part number you might be able to find a US stockist. $25 seems a little steep for these things.
Don't shun it. Fun it.

I've finally had time this weekend to do some work on my A810s, which have been sitting in the corner gathering dust for a while.I have two problems, which I think are related - Channel 1 does not erase.Channel 2 drops out of record mode after about 20-30 seconds. The screen shows error EEEC2 (Error in audio channel 2)I started out by swapping cards between the channels. The faults followed the HF driver cards between channels, so I tried putting a spare card into channel 2. Again, I have the same problem, and the fault follows this board as well. With both the original channel 2 card and the spare, I have tried powering off and pulling the card immediately after it drops out. Q5 and Q8, the output stage for the erase head, are very hot, much more so than the output stage feeding the record head. My theory is that the erase head is faulty, is trying to take out my channel 2 erase head driver, and has already damaged the channel 1 driver.Has anyone seen anything similar? Any advice? My next step is going to be to check the wiring to the head itself. Thanks,Matt

Any of the MPU boards. It should have a plastic insulator on the back of the board. Get the software update procedure from manual or off the Studer ftp site for the right way to replace it. You can get the batteries from Mouser or Digikey. You have to remove and erase the RAM chip (erasing all of the parameters) while replacing the battery. You do that by shorting all of the pins together (use tin foil or something). Install the RAM chip after the new battery is in.
