If you can read the uploads, looks like its track 36. SMPTE on every one. And close, but sounds like it was the Otari. How much do you think CRC would charge me to take that fucker out of storage and fire it up?(Email received at 10:43)...River north did have a mitsubishi 800. And also the otari version of the 32 track digital tape machine. I'm sure that's what you have. It's 1 inch dig tape. I do a lot o work at CRC and I think they still have a Mitsubishi 800 machine in storage. I've gone through all 30+ pages and found very few clues to format. Before posting the whole damn thing I'll put up these few examples showing: -the number of tracks used/possible (27/32 on the last example), -type of tape used (Ampex 467), -nwb (48 khz), -and tape speed (30 ips). The remaining pages that aren't more tracking charts like these just show knob positions on compressors, EQs, and effects. If any of this throws you a bone, of if you want to see the rest of the pile, I'll try uploading a .pdf and pix of the box labels. Anybody know anyone who worked at River North Studios in the mid 90s? Matt, the dude who recorded this, dropped off the face of the earth shortly after we finished a 3-song single. Apologies to greg - rereading my very own copy/paste there, the guy's betting it's the Mitsubishi. (Also goosman's first guess.) Magic of PRFing from cell phone = (1 / care put into posts). That video makes a stack of VHS ADATs look like a Colecovision. I've left a message at CDC, but I don't expect it to be returned. Also posted to the comments of the youtube clip, but it's 4 years old, so whatever. Amazing a silent video of a prehistoric DAT machine has 14 thousand views. People will watch any old shit. gear4days / Mr. Toad's is the answer, unless I hear back from these guys.
