I don't know which of Lem's books were translated to English but I understand that 'Solaris' was, it's really great.well It also crossed my mind to post something like 'hey, my dick is hard and its size would be classified as fictional by most..." but It occurred to me it's lame even as a joke

how did i forget children of men? such a great movie. the no-cuts-for-8-minutes scene is one of the best things ever put on film. timecrimes is great too, despite the name.does truffaut's fahrenheit 451 count as hard sci-fi? veering further out, i'd suggest slaughterhouse 5. the movie doesn't have near the impact of the book but is worth a look.and soderbergh's solaris is better than tarkovsky's. tarkovsky veers too much into love story / human relationship territory at the expense of the sci-fi aspects. soderbergh leans on the love story as well, but also does a good job of representing the alien presence.
