A dude showed up on our door the other night with what seemed like a decent offer. Was cheaper than Comcast and had more free movie channels. More concerned with the internet end of things. According to dude, Comcast lists higher speeds but everyone in the area has to share the bandwidth. He claimed AT&Ts is a direct line or some shit. Opinions?I have no experience with AT&T - but I'd be interested in hearing what kind of offer he was presenting. I guess I can read the shitload of mail they send me.Right now my Comcast Basic+ (Comedy Central / Adult Swim, etc - no movie channels) and Cable Modem (their track record has actually been very good here) is about $135. That's at least $50 more than I'm willing to pay.

Opinions? Both AT&T and Comcast will tell you things about each other's service that are about as true as your typical campaign attack ad. Comcast often offers higher bandwidth, but AT&T is usually cheaper. This always depends upon which package you go for. Both companies are about on the same level of horribleness as far as companies go. No matter which one you go with, if you have to talk to their customer service, you'll probably have an urge to talk to FM scott about hand gun ownership afterward.I have detailed this several times elsewhere on the PRF but surprisingly not in this thread, so I must repeat this here: Comcast gave me a modem with live cockroaches in it. Just want to repeat that as many times as possible whenever it fits to do so. Yep, I took home a modem from that stupid Comcast business office by North and Elston, and when I took it out of the bag, it had live fucking cockroaches in it. They basically just told me to come back again to that stupid fucking customer service center and get another one that would hopefully not have cockroaches in it. Excellent customer service. So yeah, because of that and the fact that for some reason their Internet service was useless in my home due to constantly dropping packets no matter what was done to try to rectify the situation, never going back to them.Since my last post on here I made the full switch to AT&T Uverse. It's fine. A lot cheaper than Comcast, and shit mostly just seems to work. Only quibble was that the installer dude they sent to wire me up for the service was pretty shitty. I should not have scheduled it during a time when my wife was home from work, because if I'd have been there I would have made sure the guy didn't do a shitty job. I went to go check out that aereo page but I got a DB error from their web server. I am totally racist against technology companies with fucked up web pages so I am thinking I won't bother, but otherwise I am interested...edited to add: I forgot to mention, the DSL Internet that comes with my Uverse package is fast enough. Easily able to stream HD whatever. I don't do online gaming though, so if you do that, I can't speak to any problems with lag if that is still a thing that you dorks worry about.

No installation fee. We asked what's it go to after a year? His response was just call AT&T and say you like the service and would like to keep it, but... and then they'll just waive the increase. Also, he said we could try it for a month alongside Comcast and cancel without penalty.

Excellent customer service.Interesting. They didn't even offer us a modem. We had to go buy one. No big deal, better than renting one at a couple of dollars a month forever. That service center SUCKS! Longer line/wait than any DMV I've ever been to. Ridiculous.
