Bubber wrote:(zebra50, I apologize for hotlinking your image of your test.)No problem at all. That's why I do them! Please take the response with a pinch of salt - the chamber is not perfect, but results should be comparable within themselves etc.The ML52 is a bit of an oddball mic, with the two transducers/ribbons next to one another. There are Chinese versions out there (left), as well as the Russian versions. A bit more from the xaudia blog... they made Mic of the Month a while back.Cheers! Stewart

Hey, I've got to give props here to zebra50, aka Xaudia ”1) the GEC he repaired for me took a rare hit on its way over, and he ate the shipping to get it fixed up and sent it back here (I live across the Atlantic from him) with a rewound transformer to boot, based on some reading he'd done, with no complaints at all. Back in my hands with no damage from transit, sounds nice. 2) got a transformer for the Melodium, 30-->600, and so far it's sounding really good. Thanks, Stewart. Really happy about it all.Stellar service, absolutely top notch. End of public thank-you.

elisha wiesner wrote:Some people claim that a B&O with a new output transformer and ribbon sounds just like a 44. It's an excellent and fairly affordable vintage ribbon mic and I use mine on pretty much every session I do but it is not a 44. It's not better or worse, just different. I would certainly use them in most of the same applications and be happy. Quite honestly, I've never heard a mic that quite sounded like a 44 except for a 44. The AEA version, which I've never used, is probably very close if not spot on. The Cascade mics that I have used are actually good sounding but again, are not a 44.Which Bang & Olufsen mic? BM6? Did ENAK service yours?
