Manlius pickups recently installed into my Gibson Les Paul (Fat Diane bridge, Landmark PAF neck):I've owned this guitar for 14 years and in all that time I never fully realized the potential it had until I took a gamble and picked up these two humbuckers. When I bought it, it had a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in the neck. I swapped these for a Gibson 490T in the bridge and later a GFS Mean 90 in the neck. This was a huge step in the right direction. But I must say that these Manlius pickups just blow them all away. The Fat Diane is directly based on a PAF pickup out of a 1960 Gibson ES-335. It has the vintage type sound you'd expect, but with a bit more balls and with no unwanted feedback or squealing, even at the highest volume and gain settings. The Landmark is also based on an original PAF pickup. This one has a slightly more mellow sound which balances nicely with the Fat Diane. Big, full sound out of this pickup, sounds awesome for power chording with the slightest hint of crunch, and notes up high on the neck sound super sweet and will sustain forever. These are handwound by Mick at Manlius, both were in my mailbox within five business days of placing my order, and the set cost me less than $200 with shipping. Recommended.

Zoom G3: Piece of cake to use. Seems sturdy enough. Good 'verbs/mods/filters/gates and the like (won't do 100% wet, though). Dist/drive/fuzzes, OK-ish. Amp models, not tried yet. USB recording, works fine. Looper works manually (tap to stop/start/dub), or for a set number of beats...this quantizing rules if you're the type who constantly fluffs the stop and ends up with lopsided, off-beat loops. Seems really good as an all-in-one multi-mod box (it's replacing dedicated chorus and reverb pedals for me), practice tool, and quick-n-dirty guitar recording interface.

Fulltone Ultimate Octave; going from 50 or so pedals to that, instant pro sound to my ears. Coated Remo Emperor drum skins are great, made me realise just how bad pinstripes are. They're really nice if you want a stoner heavy sound without muffling or tuning too low.

now that right there is an innovative product. not cheap, and probably only of interest to other mastering engineers, but i just bought1. foote p3s mastering compressor.....super versatile, sounds amazing, has a switchable transformer out that you can drive the daylights out of if you're so inclined.2. dangerous bax eq....way more useful than you'd expect a shelving eq to be. sounds super hifi. has fancy knobs. cheaper....el capistan echo...bought it after reading alex maiolo's review in tapeop. doesn't sound as awesome as a real space echo, but still sounds damn good. a million times better than the line 6 i was using before. the looper is very cool. cheaper still...coated powerstroke 3 bass drum head. nice and thumpy. none of that plastic sounding crap. can be tuned stupidly low without flubba.

The Apogee Duet 2 interface I just purchased sounds dope.

Update on the Surf 90s: Holy balls, these shits sound incredible. Shitcanned the shitty stainless strings, and now this guitar with these pickups kicks fucking ass. Best HB-sized single coil I've ever heard, and I've heard most of 'em.
