Through the generosity of Nate Dort and a lucky strike in the PRF BBQ raffle, I am the proud owner of a Nate Dort Velocipede. Here's a micro-review:Excellent and weird pedal!Nate explained that it's similar to the distortion/fuzz half of the Roland Funny Cat, but with a blend knob. Low blend settings give a little bit of fuzz around the edges with slight compression. 50/50 blend gives a nice crunchy sound with disconcerting sustain. Full effect is way too much fun, the sustain downright freaky, blooming. Feedback games abound and are easy to control. The distortion is great on its own. Not really like anything I've played before (haven't played a Funny Cat). I think it's perfect into another OD as well. It can get really nasty sounding. The sustain / decay are almost tremolo-ish at higher effect ratios. I love trem, so that's very cool by me.Nate explained some of what goes on in the sustain to me, but he should explain it here, 'cause it's awesome.Thanks, Nate!

I swapped out the "Duncan Designed" pickups in my Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass for the Fender Original Precision Bass pickup. The Duncan one was kind of, um... punchy. The Fender one has much better dynamic range and sound variation through the tone control. They were a really tight fit but otherwise it was a simple swap.

I was actually surprised at how good it sounded. I don't think you'd gain that much by upgrading it, what about a new tone pot or cap.?

Avantone CV-12Floor demo upgraded with "NOS USA tube" of unknown provenance.Holy crap, does it sound nice. I'm a crap singer, but as long as I'm in tune and my sinuses are clear, getting keeper vocal takes is a breeze. Acoustic guitar sounds great, cabinets sound great, everything sounds great. Now I want a second one to make a pair for overheads, and don't mind buying new, because it's still a bargain at $500.
