Merging 1/4 tape and MIDI

1
I recorded a a guitar / synth piece back in the 80s on my TEAC-3440. It's since been redone in MIDI at a faster tempo. I'd like to combine the MIDI and tape versions but the tape would have to come up a whole tone in pitch to match. Any ideas on combining these in a recording? The original Korg MS-20 stuff is impossible to reproduce. The tapes are in good shape according to the studio that digitized them for me.It's probably irrelevant but I am looking for a retro sound like the old Trident Studios recordings, treating my outboard synths like regular instruments.

Record the tape output of your tape machine into your daw. Pitch the recorded media up (or down) 50 cents for every half step. That'll get it up to the same pitch. I usually use pitch n time or a plugin called speed, but most DAWs have a built in pitch modulator. As far as speed goes if you are using pro tools you can use elastic audio to spread the recorded media out (it usually doesn't come out too artifact-y as long as you aren't doing drastic changes in tempo) or pitch n time. Cheers.
