Looks cool, but no guitarist is going to learn to code just for some fat Tubedriver sounds unfortunately. The real strength of these digital boxes lies in the kind of sound mangling that is more common on the synth world. I'm thinking stuff like Karplus Strong or random wavetables, etc. Some of that even sounds great on guitars but it's not part of the traditional sound palette for that instrument. Having a full ARM based PC with integrated AD/DA and MIDI just for the same old delays and overdrives is really not utilizing its potential. These could be amazing running MAX programs and allow for some insane sounds but very few people are going to learn programming a proprietary language for a single unit. Even Eventide with their VSIG for the H-Line can't pull it off anymore and they have a pretty big userbase.

that's where the community aspect comes in. there are plenty of DSP hackers out there and it looks like the Mod people have a solid base to start fromMax/MSP on an open source platform is never gonna happen, but Pd could work - it all depends on how "open" they really want to get...FMMRoyce, this might be closer to what you're talking about: http://axoloti.be/It's like an Arduino geared towards audio with a max-like patcher environment. And it can be made to be anything from a guitar pedal to a tabletop controller to some wearable thingamajig or whatever.

I was interested right up until I saw that.Yeah, it would be hard for me to justify dropping four bills on that, unless I was doing a lot of home recording and it would get used a lot.this is actually just what i was looking for. i do a lot of home recording and i need a good pre to record vocals / bass / keys/ synths / guitar / whatever. also, it sounds like a pretty good versatile pedal, an "Always on" type pedal or more like like a extreme fuzz. The price is expensive but it looks damn versatile.
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

Trouble is they're pretty rare in this country and almost impossible to find in guitar shops so I have no idea what it'd be like to play. Anyone here got one? Anyone here got any advice on G&L guitars in general?I can't vouch for that particular model, but the G&l F100 that I used to own was an excellent playing and sounding guitar. I mean, it didn't sound that super-unique or anything, but it was capable of a lot of great tones. It was a rare one actually, and I regret selling it sometimes, but I needed the money. Every G&L I have played has been good, they are a fairly safe bet.

Not the same model, but I played a couple of the import G&Ls when I was Tele shopping last year. Build quality is good, probably a little better than a Mexican Fender. I almost pulled the trigger on one of them until I found that ESP. I'd say that if you can get a good price on one, it would be a solid buy.The US-made G&Ls are among some of the best current production guitars in the world.

It's been loitering in my eBay watchlist for a few days, and it looks like a pretty good price to me.
