I live in Australia, and I feel really privileged to live in a country where I don't fear the police. I haven't really had run-ins with the police, but for the most part, my family's dealings with cops has been alright. Sure, they are a bit incompetent, but they aren't evil assholes who shoot dogs for fun.However, I am thinking of moving to Chicago eventually, after I get a job here and get my life into a good position and all of that stuff. I know, it's not that simple, gotta get a green card, I wanna see what it's like on a holiday first, and all that, but it's a goal of mine. But reading this thread, there's a lot of shit about the Chicago cops doing awful things. People here are very negative about them.My question is: How bad are the Chicago police? Should I fear them? Should I even move to Chicago? Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but I'd really like to know before I even consider moving there.

The city has been super spooked about riots and the university closed for the day. Fortunately, the cop is being charged. I hope some progress can be made. It's all really sad and my Facebook feed is really leaving uncomfortable with my peers who are far more upset about their little white campus bubble being broken. Everyone is freaked out about riots, which did happen here back in 2001, but I mean the fucking murder disturbs me more than that. WTF? I've not lived in a city until recently so maybe I don't get it. Anyway there's lots of fucked up shit here.
