Back when I played pussy guitar I didn't give a toss, I changed strings as often as I had to, but now I play baritone and Bass VI and have to order strings from the US and it'd be fucking awesome if they lasted longer than a week. Thank you PRF.OK.This suggestion was not so far off the wall -- http://www.ghsstrings.com/products/11464-fast-fret?category\_id=1964826-lubricants-cleanersBefore and after playing. A friend said he gets around an extra month now.As for off the wall -- One friend swears Nickel is more resistant to this sort of thing. Not so sure.- Baby Powder on hands, strings before playing. To me, it sounds crazy.- Caig DeoxIT Axe Wipes(I know...) -http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.275/.f A friend is "Church Of Scientology" about those. Swears they are the best thing ever, and last for quite a while.

I've got the hands of corrosion as well. You would think that after playing so long I would've already figured this shit out. I'm trying out steel bass strings right now, they feel different from nickel for sure, and so far I haven't noticed them lasting much longer. When I was just starting out I loved Dean Markeleleleley Blue Steels and used to boil them, I think one time I stuck them in the freezer just to see what happened.I don't change strings too often so this is a long process as I try different brands, etc. I have some Elixir's sitting around but if the D'Addario EXPs are better I will try those too. I noticed that GHS make coated Bass Boomers now so I might give those a spin.

Makes at least a 50% difference in the time they last before going dead.

The search function can be really helpful here (try limiting your search to "topic titles only" and "list as topics").I understand, but I thought having all of those in one place would be a good idea, see?Well, it's not a bad idea to bump old threads with a a bunch of good info in it. Keeps things cleaned up. Don't know if anyone has noticed, but the PRF shows up in google searches for esoteric gear, so in effect we're building an Internet database of cool shit.

Nice to know it plays friendly with Reaper, too.
