Every few years, I reread his 3 books. I have a hard time defending them to people. The books just ramble along, almost senselessly. And like too many of my favorite authors, Exley seems like a jerk. But I get a lot of pleasure from his writing. He's funny, and the novels are uniquely sad and obnoxious and loving.Not crap.
