I could hear no discernible volume difference. The only change I noticed was that it didn't sound quite as good running at half power. Less full sounding. The other two tubes went back in immediately.Did you adjust your impedance settings as well? That could have an effect.

The other two tubes went back in immediately. The main thing I noticed was it started breaking up at noon rather than 2 o'clock on the volume dial (with my go-to guitar). I couldn't hear much of a difference sonically but I think I lost a bit of oomf in the lower frequencies - likely due to the actual amount of power thumping going down....that might be what you noticed?I used a dB meter to check, I lost 2.5dB with 2 tubes out. Make of that what you will.

Like FM JohnnySomersett, I would be super intrigued with an OR120 circuit, but instead of 15 watts as he mentioned, or the standard OR 100+ watts, was something like 30 or 40 watts. In the past I've just run an OD pedal into mine and tamed its volume with that. But I've recently started plugging straight in and getting all of my drive from the amp, meaning the gain/volume control is at about noon. And it's fucking loud. Borderline painfully loud.
