I couldn't hear much of a difference sonically but I think I lost a bit of oomf in the lower frequencies - likely due to the actual amount of power thumping going down....that might be what you noticed?I used a dB meter to check, I lost 2.5dB with 2 tubes out. Make of that what you will.

I actually like the sound of mismatched impedance between a cabinet and amp. It does cost you a little highs and lows and output, but it can be really useful. When I did this with a Bassman and an 8-ohm 2x12 cab with Eminence Wizards I was totally getting sounds similar to the Cherubs' last full length. Nice!

Like FM JohnnySomersett, I would be super intrigued with an OR120 circuit, but instead of 15 watts as he mentioned, or the standard OR 100+ watts, was something like 30 or 40 watts. In the past I've just run an OD pedal into mine and tamed its volume with that. But I've recently started plugging straight in and getting all of my drive from the amp, meaning the gain/volume control is at about noon. And it's fucking loud. Borderline painfully loud.
