I'm looking to wire up something similar to this in our studio. Wondering what cable to use and if there's anything I should be aware of. Would there be any problems with the instrument and speaker jacks being near each other and/or the cable running together?

The conduit for instrument lines is separate from the conduit with the low-level ties to avoid crosstalk. We used regular heavy copper speaker wire, I want to say 8 gauge but I don't remember. The jack panel shouldn't have any crosstalk.

Is there a preference at Electrical between twisted pair cable and quad cable for mic lines?

We used Canare and Gepco star quad cable for all the mic cables. Gepco's jackets are a little more flexible and nicer feeling.All the behind the wall snakes are standard twisted pair mulitchannel ones from Mogami and Gepco.
