The Double Oaked Woodford I drank in Kentucky (and the bottle I brought home with me from the trip a few years ago) did not have a gluey tinge. But everyone making bourbon seems to be operating at max capacity. It would not shock me to find out that standards could suffer. It's crazy to me that people are hoarding Weller 107 now, but I suppose the Van Winkle connection has become more commonly known. I've taken a break from drinking, and am cautiously optimistic that there'll be a lot of great bourbon in 10-15 years looking for buyers once the trends change.Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the liquor industry or Buffalo Trace/W.L.Weller. yeah, i've never seen bulleit for less than $28 a fifth, even including sales in the chicago area. i usually buy a fifth or two when i visit my dad in wisky, where it's $20-22 a fifth. in illinois, i stick to four roses but i'll need to try that henry mckenna 10 year stuff thanks to this thread.stay far away from jim beam. jim beam is to bourbon what jack daniels is to whiskey, mass produced garbage.

Buffalo Trace is a good This Is Bourbon standard bottle. Eagle Rare if you want something for fancy people to sip on. If you can find it, Henry McKenna 10 year bottled-in-bond is pretty much the best deal going right now.

the McKenna ain't bad. Even here in Dunes Country NW Indiana, Bulliet is $34/bottle. Evan Williams is my everyday chug. My FIL just gave me a bottle of the Willett pot still stuff. He and I have completely different ideas about what single malt should be and he dislikes bourbon, but he found favor with the Willett. That's a rare occurrence. You know that until the past 6 or 7 years ALL of the 4 Roses product left the country? They do the distillation for Bulliet too. For an outside the US buyer, I'd be looking for 4 Roses product and it's damn good as others here have testified. Rye finish. I like that better than wheat finish anyway...
