I thought I had done so...but kinda like when you get 5 minutes down the road and you can't remember if you locked the front door, I'm beginning to have my doubts. I will plug shit in tonight and make sure I check that- just to be certain I hope it is something just that simple and stupid on my part.

success- and thank you FM Nate Dort. The little dialog box to select the input for each track was not visible- I had to drag down on the bottom edge of the track to get it to show up. (strange thing to tuck away like that- I am finding all digital recording systems seem to have a particular love of hiding the most useful features in non-intuitive places).

here is my first shot at multi-track w/ the interface.the only bleed was on the drum mic- did a quick single mic, level with the top of the kick drum hoop, about 2 feet out- I added some low end EQ and reverb on that track, added low end and rolled off some high end on the bass, and added some reverb to my guitar, just cause.Sam is visiting from London, and he played the backing/angular guitar bits, I rolled some treble off of that- The vocals are just bleed in the drum mic from the PA.I feel like I have paid money for worse sounding recordings. http://picosong.com/vdbyEdit: not sure why the mp3 link sounds so bad- like listening from inside a wet paper bag. Make no claims to the original being solid gold...but whatever.After this recording Reaper decided that no matter how I did it, it would keep changing the input I assigned to a track...like I would assign 1, 2, and when I did 3, it would change 2 to 4 and 1 to 2. Could not get it to stop shuffling, so I gave up.

You may want to reapproach how you are miking them or where you are taking your vocal send from. Right now it sounds like a distant mic pointed indirectly near a PA speaker with a blown horn. Or just bleed from drum mics with no actual vocal track. Everything else sounds good for demo recording.

Make sure you only the track where you want to change the input is selected, that might be causing the odd input jumps.Have you had a look at creating a project template yet? So that once you have everything set up with your 4 inputs and preferences, you can save that project as a template and recall that every time you do recording. phpBB [media]

That could simplify things quite a bit.

Yeah- I actually had no intention of capturing the vocals- they are just bleed that was picked up by the drum mic. I maxed out my 4 channels of input with Sam's second guitar- so when we are back to 3 piece mode, I will certainly run a proper vocal mic- Or maybe I can put the 2 guitars closer together and use an omni?

That's what I used to do when recording bands with two guitars on a four track. Have to spend a little time setting levels and you don't get the stereo separation (something I am not always a fan of anyway), but otherwise it can work great. That would leave you one track for vocals.I also sometimes would run the bass and drums to the same track. A compressor can sometimes be helpful then to help the rhythm section sit together nicely. If I did that and also guitars to its own track, that left two tracks for vocals, which are usually more important and need a little more care. It gives overdub options too.
