Cassette four track repairs?

Anyone here know of a solid repair shop for old tape machines?I have managed to accumulate a handful of old Tascam cassette machines over the years that need varying degrees of TLC. I understand the questionable cost/benefit ratio of putting in time and effort on these types of machines however I love them and have some degree of sentimentally for them.A number of years back I purchased a fully refurbished Porta One and it sounds and functions noticeable better than the other two oldies have laying around. Thanks,Ben

However, as noted, I guess some of the more lightweight Tascam 4-tracks don't make good fixer-uppers.I get the feeling that if he can't fix it, no one else can (or will).Fuck the website, just call him up.

When my old Tascam 4-track died a few years ago, I did some Googling, and saw this shop recommended more than once:http://njfactoryservice.comThey unfortunately were not able to fix my 4-track (dead capstan motor for which no factory-spec replacement was available) but they seemed to know what they were doing, and were good about communicating during the process. Bench fee was $40 (and I of course had to pay for shipping both ways). Notwithstanding the adverse outcome, I'd use them again.(Also: terrible, terrible Web site design. Sounds like I'll be shipping one off tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be a straightforward fix.

Zombie thread...Forgot to follow up on this. Ended up not exactly being a œHole in one . Wound up still having issues.Any other leads on top notch detail oriented repair folks?I found a place in Austin I may give a shot: http://www.tapeheadelectronics.comI ve got a couple old machines that have been laying around gathering dust. Might be worth a weekend drive up there to see what they can do with them.
