^really valuable advise. Sourcing parts for projects is a pain, but having the vendor list up there takes the guesswork out.

Just finished one of these:https://www.distortionltd.com/diy-kits/ ... or-diy-kitIt came out looking nice, and does a nice approximation of a Shellac guitar sound. The power jack is kind of spotty though, and hard to get to once everything is together.

Spent the last 3 or 4 weeks remodelling a tired old Simms Watts cab (used to be an Ike Isaacs combo) that someone local to me was looking to dump. I wanted to spruce it up into a matching cab for a Vox AC15 head. Here's how it came to me...Note the opening in the top where the amp chassis used to be mounted. Pulled the stock speakers (a pair of worn but totally functional cast frame fanes), stripped it, patched it up, plugged the chassis slot, cut a new baffle and redid it in Vox livery. New speakers are a Fane Alnico (A90) and a WGS Liberator, so this'll now handle 100-150W easily. Finished this afternoon, so here are a few pics...Really pleased with how it turned out.I posted a build thread up on another forum, which has a lot more in-progress shots. Link is here if anyone's interested.

That looks great. I vaguely remember a time when Vox grill cloth was only being made by the patent holders at Korg, who would only permit sales to authorized repair shops.Any plans for the old Fane speakers?

You can get Chinese copy stuff now, but no idea how authentic that looks in real life.I've got one of the Fanes in a teeny little 1x12, and it actually sounds great. Was given the cab for free (dude even drove it to my house), so I'll probably end up letting the other one go for enough to cover my shipping/packing costs.
