Tony by John Yingling, on FlickrBack in Guangzhou. After 5 years of collaborating, and countless missed connections, I finally met Tony Cheung. The man who did my shirts, and all the art I've shilled in fundraisers. He's as swell as I thought he'd be. We got wrecked at 5PM, ate two dinners, and he gave me a ton of art that I will once again send to the people who donated to this crazy idea, when I return to America briefly this week. No cameras. I m going to hug the family. Grab all sorts of documents that should allow a good crack at living in Asia long term. See and eat as much as I can. Ship fundraiser perks to everyone, and leave empty handed, for once. It s going to be a long few weeks. Then, I met up with an old OG buddy, Howie Lee (he was in that first film briefly), at 1AM, post ALL of the above, and he brought me to a high-rise building. The 55th floor, which housed a DIY electronic venue...essentially, they rented one of the biggest rooms of the floor, and could probably fit 80 people in their max. A full bar, and an absolutely insane skyline view. Guangzhou is bonkers from fifty floors up. The scale is absolutely massive. I took a shitty phone photo that I will not share here.Tomorrow, I begin a 2 day stupidly arduous and needlessly fucked up route to America. I'll be in Milwaukee for a few days, and going back to Appleton to hug the parents for the first time in 3 years. They are...not doing the best, and haven't been for a while, and it's all taken a really weird turn these last few months. It's shitty to say this out loud, but I'm not really looking forward to it. I don't know. Maybe it will be better than I think. Maybe it will be worse. Either way, it's going to be a thing, and I need to do it. I wish I could spend more than a few hours in Chicago. I fucked this whole thing up...but hey, lesson learned. It'll be nice to see my brother. After that 6 days, it's back into Guangzhou and Malaysia for brief 2 days stints, and then I jump right back into things in Indonesia.Take care out there.
