HA. Not sure, TBH. Its been a long while since i've played with an out-of-towner where there wasnt some amount of backline. If I was in that situation though, i think i'd just politely ask them how they feel about sharing their cabs/shells in exchange for some help moving them or something. Everyone brings guitars, pedals, snare, cymbals at a minimum though. There's even a few places that urge you to organize a gear share with other bands because they dont have the room to store the extra shit!

I'm generally fine using someone else's bass cab (or letting them borrow mine) these days.Of course, then you show up, and the backline cab only takes a fucking speakon connector, and your amp doesn't have them because it's not stupid, and then you have to use the dumb backline head with the dumb speakon connectors.

I ve never ever ever thought to bring a speakon adapter.not a bad idea mind you.I usually have no problems sharing, makes shows more efficient - i love when I get to hear my stuff with someone else playing, gives perspective.Nevertheless, we would often drive a an hour and a half to play toronto, bands would show up five minutes before their set, promoter would tell them to use our stuff and we would get imprisoned until 2am.
