Two things to keep in mind you will want to send stereo XLR to the PA if you have an amp set up you will need it in stereo to get the advantage of your plugins. I generally am just using my amp as a monitor so it is not really a part the audience mix and let the PA do the work because running it through the amps kind of coarsens the sound if you are going for a lot of detail.Remember, that you need to go in your preferences before the show and turn off sleep and power saving. Either of these going off during a performance is going to fuck you and you will lose signal and have the joy of logging back in to your laptop mid show.In the old days I would use my DAW for the live thing and set up Tracks with the processing I wanted and use and chose the next track to change the setting. Now days if I use a laptop the software is Live Stage in Logic which is built for that purpose (for live mixing or DJs). I also did this when I had to do some Keyboard stuff as well. Mostly if it is some kind of jam or sit in I just use my phone a lot as unlike you I just need something and the phone/pad is around. I am the operator of my pocket calculator. Certainly a lot of the keyboard stuff on the phone is really top notch and being able to build midi controllers in software on the pad to control a couple at a time is useful to me. A big plus is that it lets people see my kick ass threads.Unless I am being requested to do stunt guitar work which is kinda normal ( I can pretty much get by with a overdrive distortion and echo. The Eventide delays are of course pretty great but one of my favorites on the stomp is the Resonator stuff is pretty interesting to use with other effects and has a lot of different uses depending on placement.
