IIRC, that thing is a lot of big gain stages slammed together.I get that a lot of people are anti master volume, but without one, EQD might as well have done away with the footswitch. The volume leap was so pronounced at anything past 9 o clock that you're not going to be switching it on and off unless you're running it into other maxed or near-maxed gain stages, apart from when you stop/start playing.Luckily enough, the UK's FuzzDog does a clone with both vol & gain knobs that gets rave reviews. They do an extreme version as well that has an AMZ Presence tone stack.I bought the latter but haven't gotten around to building it yet.

This is what Black Friday should have been about.

Is it the same chip that is used in the Runoff Groove Ruby amp? My memory isn't in these things lately so I could be waaay off. Both seem like simple circuits, but I don't recall if they are at all related.I've wanted to make a small little DIY amp in the vein of the Gem and Ruby but with maybe with more character.Passing thought.

So I've got this 79 Pro Reverb that I haven't had much time to play. I've had it for about 3 months, but only turn it on there and there and usually just for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. It's an odd beast though and I really love getting to know the thing...the UL circuit is definitely a different Fender sound and I feel like it trades subtlety and headroom for the extra volume wattage. Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation. I did notice that the reverb was rather weak and underwhelming. It was kind of there, but not reaching that lush underwater sound that you get with the reverb way up. So I A/B'd it against my Twin and confirmed the reverb on my Pro was definitely lacking. When really cranking on a chord I heard a sort of delayed KLANG in the (weak) reverb, and crossed my fingers that it was just the tank. I ordered a replacement MOD 4AB3C1B tank and wired it up yesterday to test. Wow. Absolutely beautiful, rich reverb. I couldn't be more pleased. Now that the reverb is working properly the whole amp is much more usable.

Its like when you make a tube pedal but use a see through cover so you KNOW its a tube pedal. Same goes for clipping LEDs that are mounted outside the box. Its novel and all that but i'd rather just some simple shit that sounds good.
