The Resident Evil 2 remake has been good fun. I thought the second half started to lose the pants-shitting survival aspect that being stuck in and stalked throughout the police station with little, or no, supplies provided, but it held up as enjoyable throughout.Spoilers(?):The sewers and NEST areas had some real potential (and had to be included), but the action scenes, boss designs, and some of the character cutscenes with Leon and Ada (I ve never really enjoyed her character, tbh) started reminding me more and more of the macho ridiculousness of RE4-5. The second time through, as Claire, I m going to try it on a harder mode and do my best to make the lighting settings as dark as I can to try and add some of the hopelessness that I found so addicting during the first quarter of the game and within the very first Resident Evil remake on the GameCube. That game in particular is my personal vote for the most Resident Evil-y Resident Evil, even though I don t think it has nearly the same amount of replay value. Kudos to Capcom for turning their shit around with the past two REs, though. Maybe someone can do something similar with the first two Silent Hills soon?
