definitely.

I like the Music Man heads a lot. My only problem with them is the lack of a powerful clean tone.

I have one of the HD-65s? I think that's what it was called, the 65-watt head they made. I'm not sure because, much like my JCM 800, someone painted it. I like it for recording bass, even though it's a little underpowered for live bass work. It has a half-power switch that's very useful. That said, when cranked up, these amps tend to be a little colorless and kinda get lost in a mix. I like the amp fine for some things, but it's far from my fave.

Oh, another amp I really love -- my girlfriend's 1964 Fender Concert. Vibrato to die for.

i use a 90's twin that i picked cheap - i love it buts its starting to fuck up a bit now. when in the od channel, the distortion channel sometimes turns on by itself and wont fuck off until you belt it really hard. oh well. my buddy's got an old fender bassmen that comes with a cabinet built in rather than just being a head - dont see to many of those. that sounded awesome when i put the bean and tele through it.

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot by touting this, since I haven't bought one yet, but the new issue of the little Gibson GA-5 LP Jr. amp sounds amazing. Last year I tried one with a LP Jr guitar (P90s) and it was beautiful, even with the craptastic setup on the guitar. (Gibson store in Nashville. I just happened to be in the area and checked it out. The takeaway: I am mystified that a store selling all its gear at list price wouldn't bother to do a setup on any guitar.)

Anyway, the P90/GA-5 combination was really something. The amp has a volume control and an on/off switch. Street price $500 or thereabouts, for a 5- or 6-watt amp (depending on whose figures you believe).

I recently tried the tweed Bassman reissue, and that was quite a nice sounding amp. (Don't have one of those, either.)

here's a 50-watter on ebay right now. why would you want 100W anyways?

looks like JCM800's and JMP's aren't really so hard to come by. there's several of each up there right now.
