I feel like I do pretty well on the fiber front. I dunno. It doesn't feel like I'm struggling too bad when I'm pooping. But I do sit there for a while afterwards and let my ass dry-heave until I'm sure everything's out. Maybe that's part of the problem.

Honestly, I think the fiber thing is a little overrated and can make things notably worse if you overdo it.My experience is that if I stick to a high-protein/high-fat diet, drink enough water, don't eat a lot of bread or dairy or processed junk, then I have no problems.

Dave is correct. You're only as happy as your bowels. Another thing to try is insoluble fiber supplements. I hate metamucil because it's more than 50% sugar and food coloring, but the active ingredient is psyllium husk fiber, so I buy large bags of that online- a 1.5 lb bag will last a few months taking it 2 times per day. mix a level tbsp in a large glass of water. It's slightly hydrophobic, so I use the sink spray attachment and that mixes it up quickly and easily. You will have nice, well-formed craps, and nothing on the toilet paper ever again. It's really amazing. Just make sure you mix it with plenty of water or you could get blocked up.

I take my anxiety/depression medication at night, so I have to do fiber in the morning, for instance.Getting old is a motherfucker all-around.
