Not sure if this is quite right but its sort of sounds to me like it splits the difference between MOD CON and Palm Springs. As for Harmony, they were the first of her bands I was aware of and checked out because they were guests on Feelin' Kinda Free. It took a little while for them to click with me too but now I'm digging them.I suspect if I had been a Drones fan first, I'd feel the same way. I mean, it's such a jarring left turn late in the game there. But I'll admit, I don't know if The Drones would make as much sense to me as they do without having heard TFS first. Their intensity is a little more diffuse, maybe. They drag you through horrors but give you a breather once in a while. TFS are less dour but also more relentless. Plus they speak to the times in a pretty uniquely compelling way.I do like those Harmony harmonies on Feelin' Kinda Free, though.MOD CON is definitely less radical and gobsmacking than TFS, but emotionally they hit me just as hard. There's something about, say, that whole bit at the end of 'Get in Front of Me, Satan' that just nails it, in a way that's hard to define.

I've been digging this for a few months without realizing it had gotten a physical release, but now the wax is on the way. I could listen to Erica Dunn howl X, Y, Z, FUCK YOOOOOOUUUUUU! all day long. More like this, please. (Isn't it zed, though?)Palm Springs is quite nice too, especially the release from last November. Harmony is an interesting idea but hasn't clicked for me yet, though I suspect it's just a matter of time, since these Tropical Fuckers seem to have the golden touch. (See also: Lauren Hammel's pretty legit stoner-metal-core band High Tension.) Then there's the Steve Miller Band (no, not that one). I shit-posted a video over here that is kind of amazing. Sounds like you had to be there, but I wish I had been.I'm looking forward to more MOD CON (or however it's supposed to be stylized) as much as I'm looking forward to the new TFS record. Which is rather a lot.MOD CON is legit but I don't rank them as high as TFS. I don't rank TFS as high as The Drones (yet), for whatever that's worth. I've been digging Poor People too.
