What about a second hand set of Humbuckers? Both of my Burny Les Pauls sound great but different despite appearing to be the same model with the same VH-1 Pickups. My favorite one has a really rich, balanced sound in all positions. I like to flip to the middle position to boost the bass. The neck position is big and bassy but not woofed out. Nor does the guitar get any of that honky quack quack sound that the Les Paul nerds love. It's just nice and beefy. The other one sounds very nice and pretty, but really weak and lacking the beef. I've swapped magnets and tweaked heights. It always just sounds not as good as the other one but too nice to (and is too comfortable) get rid of. All pickups in question measure just over 8K.So I was thinking about just trying out a set of Gibson 490 pickups as they seem pretty common used for a good price, and they are common to play in guitar stores. They have always sounded nice and kinda like my favorite Les Paul when I've played Customs or Specials off the rack. It's what I've always test driven guitar pedals with in the store. I forget if I've played the 490t or the 498t in the bridge slot. Alternative suggestions welcome, but I can't afford Fralins or Lollars.I'm not trying to sound like anyone in particular. I just want a little more beef without using super high output pickups. Stuff I play in the lower gain range is kinda like late Sonic Youth, almost clean. Heavier stuff is more Melvins riffy or wall of sound distortion. Note separation is nice all around. (It could just be that this guitar has some anti-beef feature that pickups can't help; I guess I'd find out. It sounds nice unplugged.)

I need some kind of app that will play a simple chord progression over and over. Say if I am practicing a I IV V on steel and need to practice the changes with correct intonation in any given key. Simple is good, I will not require good sound quality but if I can just get it to do a piano or acoustic guitar sound without a bunch of cheesy other stuff happening that would be great.I ve done this with a looper and it is fun but too much fuckery for this purpose. I think there is a pedal that does this but I don t want that.

Which one is better for a small home studio? The JBL LSR305 or KRK Rokit 5 G3?https://homestudiomaven.com/studio-moni ... rokit-5-g3 Both studio monitors are great and compact with almost the same specs. Both feature 5" and 1" tweeters but the major difference between the two is their bass ports. JBL LSR305 is backported while KRK Rokit 5 G3 is front ported. This might not be a huge criterion but if your home studio is really tight and you will have to hang these monitors close to your walls, front ported will be a great choice for you.

Please recommend me an inexpensive new or used bass for recording demos and basic stuff. I am a guitar player, but I want to have a bass for mild use. Will I be happy with a cheapo Bronco, a Squier Affinity Jazz or P-Bass? I just want something that doesn't look hideous, has decent sustain and stays in tune. What about those Ibanez Talmans? They seem to look alright.

I don't know if I need a pedal board at this point, but would like something that would integrate into one if that time ever comes. What do you pedal mongers suggest? If you pick a power supply that uses a 12 VDC source, you have the option to run your (smallish, analogish) pedalboard off a rechargeable 5v USB battery as I detailed here: viewtopic.php?p=2035293#p2035293FM Tommy's point about noise is well-taken, I was pleased with the amount of noise reduction I got just switching from a daisy chain to the battery. But if I was using a digital pedal that generated a bunch of electrical noise itself, I'd get an isolated supply for sure.
