What's On Your Dream Pedal Board?

Relating to my earlier post and great affection for the FZ-2- Does anyone know of a good mini-pedal version of the Fuzz 1 setting? (I thought it was kinda Fuzz Face, but was corrected that it is more of a Superfuzz). I only see one, and it is $140- too much for the experiment I'm trying out. That experiment is an all inexpensive mini pedals board: Tuner > Always on Dist > Cranked OD > Hyperfuzz replacement > Delay
No one is paying you to sit on that bed and cry.

One other thing about that...While it probably won't be close enough to a Superfuzz, Ibanez did put a "Mini"-sized version of the 850 Fuzz out a little while back.Might not work on the sound front, but it might be worth looking into on the "Mini"/price front.Edit:While I believe it may no longer be in production, it seems like Malekko made a "Mini"-sized pedal called the Omnicron that was along the lines of a Superfuzz. That said, it might have been a more "Straight Up Copy" version of that sound.

If you set yours flat (noon), any Super Fuzz clone will work. If you use extreme settings on the treble or bass, I can't think of anything other the the Hyper Fuzz (and the Behringer clone) that'll get you exactly there. Here's the only one I saw with a cursory Googling. I'm pretty close, despite all the downsizing I've done this year. Utility wise, I want a good, small tuner, a good power supply, and a small single row pedal train board. Sound wise, I really just want the right fuzz. I can't put my finger on it, though. I just want something with more texture than my normal dirt sound. Maybe with some sub octave mixed in or something. Maybe I should try a super/hyper fuzz variety. Anyone try the MXR Sub Machine? Maybe an analog delay not made of plastic. Perfect Fuzz>Mini OD>Rat>Analog Delay Everything else winds up being a sometimes food. I'm still interested in parallel distortion, though.

I saw the new dead clone- very interesting, but more than I want to spend (could just pony up for another FZ-2 at that cost)

biscuitdough wrote:VaticanShotglass, have you tried a Percolator? They're easier to get a great fuzz out of than to copy Steve with (I guess unless you have all his other stuff).I have! They sound great. I still have one I built in storage. I tend to play humbuckers yet find most fuzzes sounding best with single coils. The Percolator is a bit like that for me. It sounds cool with my set up, Les Paul into Fender amp, but I just don't stay with it. Fuzz is odd like that with me. After posting in this thread, I thought about it and figure that what I really need to do is find a Fuzz that plays well after a buffer so I can build one into a box running parallel with a Rat circuit. I'd wire them up like the two channels in a Beta Lead where you can have 'A or B' and 'A & B' switching and independent level controls. That way I'd have the foundation of the Rat with the extra low end and texture of the fuzz. Maybe that is nuts and would sound terrible. I'm just getting bored with a lot of standard dirt sounds yet paradoxically I really like aspects of what I've already got. I just want a little more motion or complexity as you can get with multiple amps or multiple tracks. I'm probably nuts.
