Why do you hate Pearl Jam so much?
52Welp, I heard this song and I hate them again. Also, I'm typing this from beyond the grave because I died of second-hand embarrassment.placeholder wrote:I despised Pearl Jam whenever their first album was ubiquitous. Since then, I haven't cared about Pearl Jam enough to hate them. They're just another middle-of-the-road corporate-rock band.

Actually though, if you make something that is so bad that it is remarkable, maybe you SHOULD be judged on that too. But since it's remarkable, maybe you should in fact be applauded for your achievement. Does Dirty Frank deserve a higher profile in the Bad Song Hall Of Fame? When someone says "shit song", should people reflexively think "Dirty Frank by Pearl Jam is a shit song"? Does Dirty Frank need more champions out there?I so badly want a great comedy sketch to just appear right now with "Dirty Frank" as the soundtrack. Maybe it's so horrible it is useful.

55"Dirty Frank."It sounds like a self-parody.Like nineties-style wannabe funk music played by a band who between the five of them only owned two vintage funk records, and they weren't even very good ones, and even if they were the band didn't bother to figure out any of the chord progressions, and instead just got together at practice one Tuesday and said, "All right, boys... Let's get dowwwwnnnnnn!"Truth be told a lot of forgettable bands sounded like this back then, or had a song that sounded like this.

56Wow, Dirty Frank is indeed an abomination. At least they had the good judgement to make it a B-side.

57MCCREADY: "Dirty Frank" was written while we were touring with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The song's about our bus driver, Frank -- we were convinced he was a serial killer. We would find piles of empty beer cans under his driver's seat after a whole night's drive. It was like, "Oh man; I'm glad we're still alive!"GOSSARD: "Dirty Frank" is a pearl jam. The lyrics on that song are amazing, some of the best Eddie's ever written.Guitar world: The song has a real funk feel to it, no doubt reflecting the influence of touring with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.GOSSARD: It had a lot to do with that. You can't help but be influenced by the Chili Peppers when you watch them night after night. Rather than emulating them, we just wanted to catch their groove and feel it the way they feel it. "They cook 'em just to see the look on their face." A little hats-off tribute. [Laughs] It's cool to have moments like that. Sometimes, it's great to be dark and foreboding, but this band definitely has a sense of humor, too. It's important that it comes out at least every once in a while, to keep things in perspective. I don't think Peark Jam are doomsday predictors or sad guys; I think we're a band that enjoys life.FM 154 nailed it. And yes they were obviously drunk when they wrote wanted a passSo she relaxedNow the little groupie s getting chopped up in the back. But everyone knows the worst Pearl Jam song is Bugs.

59Ah yes.. I read it too fast and am now a little embarrassed. Not as embarrassed as rehearsing, recording, and releasing a song that sounds like Dirty Frank, but still.
