IN THE WEST RE-ISSUE. This feels like I'm hearing a new album vs. and old, comfy shoe that I've worn for years. Absolutely pops out of the speakers. I'm sure there's a better way to put that. The C/Z version was always so thick and muddy sounding to me (which I like! SEE: HUNGRY MAN'S FIRST ALBUM, also a masterpiece), but it was too quiet. I don't buy that "you control the volume knob" garbage, never did. Seems like something people who only listen to music on $10,000 speakers would say. This new version is bright and clear and just 'loud' enough. Goddamn, they were such a snarling, awesome rock and roll group back then. Just a beast. Wish I could have seen them in the 4-piece line-up. They were rarely disappointing in the 3-piece era, and always a little wild. Seem to be barely holding it together here at times, and I love that so much. Hadn't listened to In the West in a long, long time (probably years), and this feels like the freshest breath of air ever. https://skwm.bandcamp.com/album/in-the-west

ITW remix/remaster sounds amazing. Definitely more low end than before, bass more present for sure. Maybe a little more space between guitars too?Always liked "Punch Drunk Five" but it absolutely SCREAMS here. Maybe it just stands out a little more having to flip the vinyl over.Vapin' a hog leg on "Raised By Tigers" right now and goddamn, JRLP man, and Andy just playing a solo for the first half of the song. Amazing.Realized recently that coming across this record in a pawnshop in Idaho in 1995 is probably one of the 3 biggest things music related things that ended up changing the course of my life, though the impact of ITW was a slower burn.
