Incredible showman, of course.
Admittedly it would be annoying if the drummer in your band played like 'Live at Leeds' (do NOT put a metronome to that recording..). But he also sync'd up well to Pete's sequenced synth stuff; in the loudest band in the world before in ear monitors were a thing so I wouldn't say crap.
Re: Style: Keith Moon's drumming
2Imagine Keith Moon's drumming style applied to the following bands:
Weather Report
Labradford
Mumford & Sons
My Bloody Valentine
Crosby, Stills, & Nash
Do I want to hear that? Yes, yes I do.

Re: Style: Keith Moon's drumming
3Chavez is a good example of Moon-like drumming (but more grounded) that really fits.
Re: Style: Keith Moon's drumming
4When I first started drumming in bands, I wanted to be Keith Moon so bad. I'm a big fan. Here's something we did ~20 years ago. It was fun.

5His 'style' is one of the best things about him.

6everyone posting that his style would work for other bands don't seem to grasp that he was in the Who.
Re: Style: Keith Moon's drumming
7Yeah, The Who was a band with a non-soloing guitar player who played rhythm like a drummer, and a drummer who soloed wildly like a guitar player.jason_from_volo wrote: Sat May 08, 2021 9:42 pmPretty much my point, yes. I love Keith Moon. He is very unique. But the way he plays would not work well and/or would sound out of place in most bands.akosinski wrote: Sat May 08, 2021 6:26 pm everyone posting that his style would work for other bands don't seem to grasp that he was in the Who.
I love your signature. Totally agree. I think rock music, and most 20th century music is exalted amateurism. If it was better, it would be worse.
Re: Style: Keith Moon's drumming
8Absolute fucking mess. Unstructured paddling most of the time, very little beat. Still totally awesome. The opposite of a "chops" drummer who dazzles with syncopation, complexity and technique, he's just playing all the drums all the time like a little kid. Fucking love it.
Re: Style: Keith Moon's drumming
10The drumming in "Lies" is groovy as hell. Not crap.
