I must admit, when it first went down i thought it might be because admin couldn't be arsed with all the inevitable flame wars about to start in relation to the upcoming presidential election, and were just disabling it deliberately.

Thank you everyone for your efforts. I do think that the actual message board part of the message board is the nicest that it's ever been. It's not for me to give anyone grief over the mishap with the backup, but in the context of this kind of mishap, I'm glad that this much of the forum was still available to be accessed.* I also think it's nice that the archived portions are separated out as an archival section, rather than us trying to graft new stuff onto an old messed-up board somehow.

*I don't even mind losing some of my earliest posts, which because I was in high school in the 2000s were politically problematic (e.g. I said things like "I like Radiohead")
