Yeah, don't be too sure of that. It's a big honking book: more than 240,000 words. But thanks!

I've actually written another book, which I will also self-publish. You'd have thought I'd have learned my lesson after the first one.

I tried to keep myself busy, as active as I could be, and as free of alcohol as I could because I knew the lock down could turn me into a compete slug. Don't get me wrong, I drank, but I tried to keep it to a monthly thing and host Zoom happy hour parties. I made sure to socialize as much as possible, calling people and texting people constantly. Had those Zoom happy hours every month, played weekly Counterstrike games on Steam with my best friend from college, had weekly Zoom poker games, Face Timed with my family weekly, other friends had video parties, the PRF had online events, my work has weekly Zoom meetings and had a few after hour events like trivia and their own happy hours, I walked around my hood whenever I could and just generally hunkered down and weathered the storm of 2020.

I am gearing up now for safe travel when I can. I am already booked to get around the US a couple times this year. Next year and every year after until I can't anymore I am going overseas. Getting TSA certified, a Real ID and renewing my passport and getting the FUCK out of town when I can. First Class all the way. My living and job and car situation is just fine and I am not moving anywhere soon but I am for sure going to travel. I haven't escaped this patch since November 2019.

Also, bring on all the live music. Fuck me I cannot wait to see a sick fucking set of cool jams.

When the pandemic hit, my songwriting partner/roommate and I threw out our couch and moved all our gear into the living room. We made 4 track cassette demos of 30 or 40 new tunes. Our band (safely, in a studio) recorded and released two albums and an EP on Bandcamp.

Out of sheer boredom I joined the Steve Hoffman Forums. I got locked out of a thread for defending recreational drug use and saying fuck David Crosby. Other than that debacle I've contributed to some great discussions and reconnected with my music geek best friend from 8th grade.

we only had a short lock down last spring. everyone who could not work from home still went to work. so, not so much changed in my daily routine. restaurants and clubs and cinemas were closed for over 1 year though. not seeing shows is the thing I miss the most. my wife and I met some friends for dinner every couple of weeks. that was always great fun. other than that we spent a lot of time at home doing our stuff, making music, painting, working on electronics, cooking and whenever possible going for long walks. about 2 month ago I started practicing with the guitar player of my band again. I programmed all the drums in BFD3 so we could play our songs along to that. practicing once a week was one of the highlights of the last months.
