Had a little bit of chat going last year before the board got taken down. Hopefully we can recharge that. I simply asked to be caught up on the teams and personalities of the now as I had taken a 20 year hiatus from the sport. Led to some really great informative posts.
I was a Suns boy when I was 10. I'm now not 10. Decided to follow Phoenix in the bubble and was surprised to see how that all went. Suffice to say this has been an exciting season.
What's everyone feeling and thinking about this NBA season?
Re: NBA Season 2020-2021
2Once again my Pacers chew up a coach on the road to mediocrity.
They aren't going anywhere in the East for at least the next three years with the Nets, Philly and Milwaukee setup the way they are. Wish they would just gut the team and rebuild around Lavert and Sabonis at center.
I've watched a lot of games, haven't seen very many great ones. The playoffs are shaping up to be interesting though, i'm really curious to see who comes out of the West.

5Amazing. Does it look like Sabonis will be a pacer for a long time to come? I know sometimes it is impossible to say but there's some players that give off that they are a franchise guy.AstroRoadie wrote: Fri May 07, 2021 7:54 pmHe had a triple double at the half the other night.Haydon wrote: Fri May 07, 2021 6:04 pm

Looking now I can see the next game is Pacers with the visiting Wizards. That should be a fun one. Both fairly identical records this season.

6He could be a franchise guy but he's shown some frustration with our team play that's got us all worried he might look for a trade in a year or two.Haydon wrote: Fri May 07, 2021 8:24 pm

We played the Wizards earlier this week and they put up 154pts on us. They are a much better team right now, I'm expecting them to knock us out of this play-in tournament.
I don't get to see many Suns games since I'm in the UK and the time difference for a west coast game means they don't start till 3am but they look great. Booker is like little bulldog and they have a good mix of younglings and vets. A Suns v Lakers first round series looks like it might happen. That would be a great series.
Re: NBA Season 2020-2021
7I will preface this with the knowledge that yes the Lakers beat the Suns convincingly last night with a punishing performance by AD.
However, as much as I have tried to like the Lakers, they creep me out!
I can not put my finger on it but I can try.
LeBron is a gift and he's largely removed from this although I am sure it lends a bit of perspective to maybe why I find the Lakers creepy. Everyone may be trying to elevate or present in such a way that it supports or bolsters the LeBron and Lakers brand.
They feel very...fake. You can't really fake playing ball and a lot of the dudes on that team can certainly play extremely well. They won a championship! But it all feels so...creepy. The post scoring stance and performance from both AD and Montrezl feels loaded and fake. Maybe they are building these situations to appeal to slow mo replays? I cringed when AD shouted "I'M BACK!!!!!!!!". I felt that he wasn't really gone all that long in the scheme of things and his game held up and no one was really surprised. Also, so much good play has occured on other teams in other instances all the while he has been gone. The young man Anthony Edwards had a killer 40+ game the other week and the kid was just smiling. It was genuine. This lakers team feels very...manufactured.
Do I just hate the Lakers? I don't feel that I do. I have a Bron jersey celebrating his MVP awards in the past. I care about this man. I even watched every Lakers play off game last year and none of it bothered me like this current season Lakers.
I need to stop talking about this but please also engage with me on the topic.

Re: NBA Season 2020-2021
9I'll watch pretty much any NBA game. The Lakers/Warriors game the other night was great. As a Bulls fan, I usually root for any team that plays against LeBron.
But the dude is still clutch. I knew he was gonna hit that three the moment he got the ball. Is it possible to say he is underrated, despite all the success he's earned?
At this point, I'm looking for any team to take the piss out of the Nets. I just can't stand anyone on that team.

10I agree on the underrated thing with LeBron. I think he's taken for granted or hated in equal measure and anyone who professes an interest in his game is considered casual. Fuck that. That narrative will change embarrassingly in the years after his retirement and people will forget how bloody weird they were being about the successful basketball man. I love when my team comes up against him in particular. He's fascinatingly so much in control.yngwie einstein wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 11:27 am I'll watch pretty much any NBA game. I haven't seen but one Nets game and yeah they feel like the villains cos they are so stacked.
Congrats on the Bulls making moves this season! They looked legit.
