Re: Introductions: How did I get here?

I honestly don't recall specifically how I made my way to this board other than assume it came from being a Shellac fan, and I used to frequent a lot of music message boards in the early 00s and then made my way here eventually, and this is the only one still around. I joined around 03 or 04.

It kinda blows my mind to think about all of the friends I have that are intermingled somehow through this board. Like either we met through here or just sorta kept showing up at the same shows 25 years ago and knew each other and they also ended up here. It all blends together at this point.

Fun fact: fm akosinski and I used to troll each other on a dupage county suburban hardcore message board, like a few years before I even joined in here. That shit was like 20 years ago. I can't speak for him but I am not even particularly a fan of suburban hardcore.

In around 2007 there was some poker forum where FM Steve was outed, and a load of people there started asking music questions and whatnot. Some of the comments were along the lines of “Let’s bring this back to poker, Steve has a forum on his studio’s webpage if you want to ask him about music stuff”. I think I got sent a link to the poker forum in the b3ta.com newsletter - for fun and funny stuffs on the interwebs.

Then in 2014 I moved back to Australia and dug out my old guitars and got back into making music. I was trying to record to stuff and the story from the poker forum popped into my head. I googled around and found the ea forum and have been here ever since.

There are no words for how much meaningful yay it has brought into my life.

Holy crap I think that's how I ended up here too. I'd forgotten that b3ta was even a thing.

I think I googled some nerdy bass stuff, about tapewound strings or something and it brought me here.

Was pleasantly surprised to see the discussions went well beyond the indie/post hardcore/ whatever I expected. Lurked for a few years, registered like 12 years ago. Got turned on to a lot of great music, fun and funny discussions about so many things.

Had been checking regularly to see if the forum was back up, kind of gave up. Checked again a week ago.

So glad it’s back. Very thankful to those who put in the effort to make this happen.

A bandmate mentioned the forum, who, to my knowledge, lurked but didn't post. I checked it out and ended up posting. This is circa 2014, and I've been off and on since.

I haven't been to a barbecue, and I barely play music anymore. I did meet Taylor Swiftboat Orgy via this place, who has turned out to be a solid personal friend and big part of the Philly DIY scene.

Ceiling cat! also forgotten about, until now.

And it's still on the go....but looks like it hasn't been updated since 2003.

Heh - Joel Veitch has put all of his Rathergood stuff up on YT and he is still making truly great stuff. Absolute genius. Also if you recall David Firth of Salad Fingers fame, he just released a new Locust Toybox album on bandcamp.

Fuck the internet is boring these days!
