Dude, all of your one-man band records are awesome. The RRoT records are my favourite stuff in the genre they're in. The solo one was great too.

But I think the thread is about one man bands in the live sense, where one person does it all on their own. I think there's a not-so-fine line that separates a simple solo act from, on the other end, an athletic circus act where it looks like a person is trying to prove their ability to juggle ten things at once, as opposed to creating worthwhile music on their own. Also, does stuff with backing tracks count as "one person band"?

I saw John Schooley and His One-Man Band in a Berlin bar 12 years ago. He is from Austin, had a drum on his back, a harmonica posted before his mouth, a cowboy hat on his head, and played loud, fuzzy party blues for an hour or so. Absolutely loved it, swore at the time he was the closest I’d ever got to hearing Santiago Durango live. Bought a record of his that is fun, but that performance was magical, especially in the context of an übercool bar flaunting patches of bare brick and graffiti. NC.
