Unexplained with Richard MacLean Smith. Really well-told stories of unexplained happenings, often ones with supernatural or extraterrestrial appeal. The host is neither especially credulous nor skeptical.

I gave up on the Chapos ages ago. Too much of the worst trends in DSA: admiration for Stalin and (at least around the time I stopped listening) Trump, dismissiveness of socdems, a fantasy of the working class ("working class people aren't vegan") - so you count petty bourgeois plumbers and big rig drivers, but not retail and food service workers?

I have a lot of trouble listening to informational podcasts but that's a personal failing. It turns out maybe the key is they have to be British?

Em finally got me to listen to No Such Thing As A Fish, which is the researchers for the TV show QI talking deep trivia.

The Taskmaster podcast, because we're huge Taskmaster fans. The host of that, Ed Gamble, also does one called Off Menu with comedian James Acaster that we've been liking a lot - every episode, they walk their guests through describing a meal at their "dream restaurant." It's wildly discursive, very funny, and they're not at all food snobs.

Speaking of good interviewers, Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (officially RHLSTP, pronounced "rhlstp") has hundreds of episodes. His style is unique, and I could see it being a deal breaker for some, but I love his shit

Every now and then I'll listen to the Electronic Wireless Show - three video game writers talking about video games - because host Nate Crowley is one of the most amusing humans currently alive
fuzzbox djs - "music people know" since 2011

I just finished the Blowback Cuba series, they did such a good job with it. I picked up Helen Yaffe's We Are Cuba! after hearing about her on one of the episodes, it's also very good and dives into some more recent history.

It posits that the titular Scorpions hit was written by the CIA to destabilise the Soviet Union. The podcast has an investigative, serial format so it is a fun binge.
I started this today after seeing your post, really digging it so far.

If I may toot my own horn a bit, I recorded a podcast last year going track-by-track through Trout Mask Replica. I got to talk to some brilliant people, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. My friend Darren Husted produced and hosted the show on his Prince: Track by Track feed, hence the weird link and awkward podcast name.
