I'm pretty sure we all know which album will come up first... it's the best rock'n'roll record after all...but I'm curious how will the other two albums stack up against it.

Fun House is the reason I can say I'm a fan. I'm not particularly into their other stuff. I've read that they came up with a large part of the s/t last minute to make up for the duration of an album, it totally sounds like it.

Horrible mix aside, Raw Power, because James Williamson.

Funhouse, obvs, though I find myself loving the first album more and more and have finally gotten into "We Will Fall".

Raw Power is great (and I prefer the remixed version to the Bowie mix, especially on vinyl where they toned down the mastering volume a bit), but has influenced so many shitty RAWK N ROLLLLLLL garage glam bands that it's luster is a little dull, but still, few things thrill as much as Williamson's first lead break coming in at the beginning of "Search and Destroy".

first record could have been a lights-out EP.

all three have songs that are better than what most bands will ever do.

I toggle between Funhouse and Raw Power. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for the more succinct Raw Power songs and good god that guitar sound. But then again there's that howl in "Loose".. shit I dunno.

Funhouse is overrated IMO. Raw Power is below par for The Stooges, though Shake Appeal is one of their best tracks.

For me, one of the spectrums operating in the best rock music is the emotional stimulation the music creates. On one side is sex, the other violence. The two rarely meet - I don't want to fuck when I play Meshuggah, I don't want to fight when I bliss out to Ritual De Lo Habitual for the millionth time.

Raw Power hits this sweet spot of such utter deviant psychosis that it stimulates both emotional extremes at once - Williamson's frenzied desecration of the Chuck Berry rule book being the element that takes them over the edge - so it's one of the greatest rock albums of all time.

Not to take anything away from Funhouse (which is equally brilliant in it's own organic way) but Raw Power is something else.
