Revox PR99- any good?

1
I don't want to mix down to digital anymore.
It's not a professional studio, I'm poor and I've been playing around with the idea of buying a Revox PR99 because they are pretty available here in Germany and finding all kinds of spare parts is really easy.
The machine has balanced i/o and there's a 15ips version that has 2x2,75mm heads.
Any opinions about those?
They are not much cheaper than Studer A 807s and still more expensive than most Telefunken M15as.
Any other recommendations in the $ 500-700 region are very welcome.
Thanks, Max

You should go for it. They sound really nice and make a huge difference over mixing to DAT , in the box or similar.
Be sure that transport and moving parts are working and do try it with ossciloscope, so that you know that preamps are working correctly.
Find a tech in your area (someone who did calibrations on the local radio station), and let him have a go...
