I had one of those weird fender marriages called a jaguarillo- part jag, part strat. It was kind of a cool concept with the strat H/S/S config on a jag body and neck. I wound up selling it along with other things to upgrade to a couple of other things eventually, but I liked it.
Anyway, carve and paint that Jackson headstock and we’re really in business. I do bet those pickups sound BAAAD…..
Re: More ugly instruments
23Ate there any non-reverse pointy headstock guitars that aren't ugly? For some reason I can tolerate reverse pointy headstock...
Re: More ugly instruments
24haha.. ah yes, the Pawn Shop series. I haven't kept up, but it seemed like Fender wised up and realized what people actually wanted was more affordable versions of old designs (JM, Jaguar, Mustang) and not some grotesque tobacco burst Strat thing with 3 angled Jazzmaster pickups and an f-hole or whatever. Maybe they still make 'em..brephophagist wrote: I mean, Fender has that whole Parallel Universe line of "unholy marriage" instruments now.
Re: More ugly instruments
25This naming strategy would have been particularly satisfying each of the many hundred times it was said in court during the inevitable Rickenbacker legal action against them.tommy wrote: Wed Jul 07, 2021 4:53 pm I think Jackson really missed the boat by not calling this model the Prick. BC Rich would have.
Re: More ugly instruments
26FWIW, that bridge is a much better design than Rickenbacker's.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: More ugly instruments
27I definitely know exactly what kind of guitar you're talking about. On the flip side (and I'm a big offset guitar fan) I took a recent look at the Cobain custom Jagstang. It's a pretty ugly body shape.penningtron wrote: Fri Jul 09, 2021 8:05 amhaha.. ah yes, the Pawn Shop series. Re: More ugly instruments
28Yeah, I guess the Jagstang was sort of the first draft version of what Cobain was envisioning, but died before they could revise it so they just sort of put it out as is. I kinda like it other than the angled pickups and odd choice of bridge. I can certainly see it as a proto Pawn Shop model for sure.
Re: More ugly instruments
29Still, IMO, one of the ugliest guitars ever made. They aren't even fun to play unless you have baby hands. It's the worst sum of all its parts.
Re: More ugly instruments
30I would totally fuck with that Jackson (put some passive pickups in it though).
