His Mind Science of the Mind project with Mary Timony from that period is worth hearing, but is becoming increasingly hard to find evidence of:

24How about No Kill, No Beep Beep to Different Damage?
Just out of curiosity I checked the Pitchfork review of their 3 albums and the first is rated lowest? WTF?

25I'd say the example is Different Damage to Power. The first 2 rule. The last is horrid.BrendanK wrote: Sun Jul 18, 2021 6:50 pm How about No Kill, No Beep Beep to Different Damage?

27Trans Am: Red Line -----> T.A.
Red Line is an rich delicious gumbo, an organic mix that still bears Trans Am's idiosyncratic stamp, the full flowering of all they had planted. Initially I thought four sides was overkill but I soon grew to love all of it.
T.A. isn't a terrible LP it's just eh.

28Well it's definitely a different flavor than their excellent debut. I'd say listen to Soft Pyramids once, and if it annoys you, you know you're done, but maybe it will rope you in.BrendanK wrote: Sun Jul 18, 2021 7:14 pm I guess I should give it another shot. That record's got all of the markers of that second (third?) wave of dance punk that swept the scenes right around 2000, the sassy vocals and funky bass lines. I think what sets that record apart from a genre I mostly hate is the evocative images in the lyrics, and the brilliant use of the space they found as they lost a 4th member and became a trio.
I saw them on that tour with Dischord's Black Eyes who were obnoxious to me (and also dancey).

30Acclaimed indie band making their major label debut has got to be responsible for a lot of these.
