Really unique sounding amps when they run well, and I think the reverb ones have a better verb than Fenders. They sure fucked up with that “distortion” knob though.

64I had two regular V4s with the metal knobs, no master and think I got lucky. The main one survived three shitty tours and a bass player dropping it on the concrete during load out. Never gave me a single problem. The other one did need the tube/cap job, but $525 total was still pretty great for an amp I loved the sound of. 65The VT-22s somehow do seem to go for less than V4s from the last few checks I've done. As hard as it is to ship a V4, a VT-22 would be...insane.
If I were to sell one of mine, I'd probably rehouse it first and sell the speakers separately unless I got lucky and sold it locally.

66I would totally sell my VT-22 for $350 to anyone willing to pick it up in Milwaukee. It's the 1970-ish? one tmidyett had for sale on here a couple years back.
It mostly works as intended I think (except for the fucked up sounding reverb), but a friend here also has one that's in the shop every other month. Makes me not want to go down that road, and I don't really need loud vintage tube-y magic anyway.

67I'm only asking this because I didn't know it when I first got my first V4, but have you unlocked the reverb? There's a lock mechanism for travel and if its locked it sounds fucked up. I owned 2x V4 and 1x V4B. None of them recapped. I practiced twice a week 4 hours at a time and gigged pretty regularly with one of them for about 5 years. I never had any issue with any of them. 2 out of 3 even had original tubes. Sometimes you get lucky.

My dealings with those guys in 2008/9 was always good, but clearly.. their reputation slipped thru the years (I couldn't keep up with the offshoot brands either)..

Anyway, I don't miss my V4-B. Backbreakingly heavy.
