Maybe you already knew about them or just came across thant wonderful cover and decided you had to have it.
Testament - Low (1994)
By 1994 I was a freshman in high school and looking for all things chugga chugga.
I knew the band from my heavy pals, older and more versed in thrasherisms, but I just thought the cover was ultra cool. Bought the cd and enjoyed the music a lot.
Woodentops - Giant (1986)
I knew nothing about them. I was about to buy a ton of records from a discogs seller and the "add another item at no aditional cost" message showed. Checked his stuff and saw this NM for like 2 or 3 €. Didn't even take a quick listen on youtube, I literally thought "with such a good taste music must be at least decent". And it was.
These are the first that come to mind, there are a few more.
Re: Records you bought cause you liked the cover
3I’d estimate that 90% of Molly Hatchet’s record sales in the 1980s happened this way.

Re: Records you bought cause you liked the cover
5One year before Ps1 launch, to be fair.
Testament, those pioners.
Re: Records you bought cause you liked the cover
7Bought the first Fugazi album based entirely on really liking the shade of red. Did not enjoy the grey of the follow up, although musically it might be superior. Did not disappoint, obviously.
Re: Records you bought cause you liked the cover
8Throughout my 40 years of record buying, too many to name. Recently though bought like a dozen from a dollar bin all based on covers. Really dig the majority.
Re: Records you bought cause you liked the cover
9I bought various Grateful Dead records when I was 12 or 13 years old (because I liked the skulls). I wanted to like the music more than I did in the end.
