I didn't think it would happen so soon and really at all because any international travel right now needs the approval of our CEO, but they are trying anyway.

I mostly want it to happen, but 17 months working from home then going right on a 2 week international business trip is really diving right into the deep end.
My wife and I, both vaccinated, have been going out a lot lately to indoor bars and clubs. One all ages punk show. I have faith in the vaccines. Just one anecdote. YMMV.

I'm supposed to go to Italy in October for work. Cannot fucking wait to go.

Today I found out that a young coworker who I get along with real well supports Trump. It put me in a sour mood. I've always been a sociable person, but recently I find myself wary of new people, especially at work. I don't fuck with Trump supporters, and I make this succinctly known. Thing is, he's a fucking kid; just turned twenty-one. More than enough time for his views to change, but it isn't really.

Support of Trump, no matter how low-key, is shoving their views into your face. I'm fifty-years-old and don't have the time, energy, or desire to make the effort - they sure as fuck don't. Yes, it's difficult, but I've spent my life navigating relationships that posses this particular strain of difficulty.

Thankfully, I have no family members who are Trump supporters. I have immediate family members who are opposed to views I hold proudly and aggressively, so I do sympathize. I have an old dear friend who I love intensely and he is a current Trump supporter. We've spent the last two years trying to make this work. He, by ignoring and refusing to engage in a discussion; me, abiding by his wishes and not talking about stuff, but feeling terribly conflicted, confused, and sad about it. He's feeling sad as well. Just wants things to be like they were.

Anyway, this kid at work likes shitty festival house music so supporting Trump was just the icing on his cancel cake. I'm kidding. I can be cool.
